Online Summer Opportunities
SUMMER OPPORTUNITIES
This is not a comprehensive list, but will give you ideas to get you thinking about what you can do this summer. You can think about opportunities in 6 categories:
- Family
- Taking care of siblings
- Helping older relatives
- etc.
- Work
- Traditional jobs — Grocery store, restaurant, bakery, marina, garden store, ice cream shop, etc.
- Teaching online — Tutoring for middle or elementary school, dance, chess, art, etc.
- Community Service
- Think about needs in your community
- Think about groups that need help now — Seniors, people with disabilities, underserved kids and adults, etc.
- Examples: Food drives, helping with deliveries, helping seniors with technology, writing letters to healthcare workers or seniors, etc.
- Enrichment
- Online classes in new or current interest — Free online classes, summer college programs (Some have reduced tuition for online)
- Develop skill — e.g., Coding
- Research — Online programs, ask high school teachers if they have a project
- Your own projects — e.g., Book Club, cooking, art projects, make a film, creative writing, learn an instrument, etc.
- School Groups — Continue activity into summer (e.g., A cappella, school newspaper online, etc)
- Athletics — Stay engaged with your team (e.g., Organize workouts/drills or team community service projects, etc.)
- Politics — Volunteer for campaign or elected official (Youth advisory groups, phone banking, research, communications).

AI Scholars Live Online is a 10 session (25-hour) program that exposes high school students to fundamental AI concepts and guides them to build a socially impactful project. Taught by our team of graduate students from Stanford University, students receive a personalized learning experience in small groups with a student-teacher ratio of 4:1.
jGirls Magazine invites self-identifying Jewish teenage girls ages 13-19 across the world tHaro submit creative content (fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art, photography, music) on the subject of their choice for consideration for publication in our online magazine. We accept submissions on an ongoing basis. Writers and artists are paid for published content.

Great Books Summer Program Great Books Summer Program is still nearly four months away, and we expect to be open for business as usual on all campuses and locations. We are proactively building Great Books Online: an innovative new way to bring students together in exciting virtual classrooms and discussions with our distinguished Great Books professors and scholars. Please Note: we plan to offer both options and will give you the choice.
Pharmacy Summer Institute for High School and College Students–The University at Buffalo’s School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences 2024 Pharmacy Summer Institute is an in-person program available July 15-17, 2024. Applications open March 1 and are due May 1.
