• Lisa was terrific and so supportive throughout every step of the college application process. She is very insightful and immediately saw my children’s strengths after our first meeting and how best to present their “story” in their applications. She had great advice on how to further develop and strengthen their “story” during Junior year. She knows what the admissions officers are looking for in the essays and had great suggestions on how to improve the essays so that the reader could really understand and get to know my children through their essays. She is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of the college application process as well as what colleges are looking for in their applicants. This made the college application process much more manageable!

When she met you as a sophomore, she was a girl who was doing everything because her mom was pushing her. Today, I see a mature young woman who's taking charge of her own future. This is all because of you and the way you led her to be her best self. She now believes in herself and has high expectations for her future. I don't know how we would have survived this daunting process without you. Thanks a million for all of this. I just wanted to let you know how appreciative we all are of your hard work for the success of our children.

  • When I first met Abby in December of my senior year, I had just been rejected from what I thought was my dream school. To my surprise, Abby spent our first meeting just getting to know me: how I think, what my “criteria” were, what I’m interested in, and how I was coping with the stresses of the college process. She figured out the best way to individualize the college process to my wants and needs. Abby gave me the tangible tips and tools to make my college application stand out, the knowledge to make the right decision, and the confidence that no matter where I ended up, I would be great. And she was right! I love Wash U and Abby made it possible. I am eternally grateful for all that Abby has done for me and my family.

  • My son’s situation was “out of the box” so we needed to work with people who not only understood that, but also had the expertise and experience to navigate us through the complexities and challenges of the college application process. Abby Power’s approach was the perfect balance of holding my son accountable for his role in the process, while ensuring that he felt supported throughout. We believe that approach made all the difference in terms of successfully targeting the schools that were right for him, while preparing him for the responsibilities of college life.

  • Sorry for the long, overdue thank you for helping our son through the college application process. Needless to say, the outcome for him was excellent and he is excited to attend CMU and to be swimming on their team next fall.  We know that you two played a critical role in many ways, but most importantly helping him unpack and clarify his personal positioning early on and then coaching him to reflect this in the numerous essays and application documents produced over the past 9 months.  As parents we are proud of his many accomplishments and appreciate you helping to put these in the best possible light. His applications were compelling in a very competitive environment. Your expertise, feedback and project management guidance made a big difference.    So thank you both for your patience and support as we know you have a lot of students and feel we had the best of the best working with our son.

  • Just realized that we never took the time to thank you for all the work you've done with our daughter over the past couple of years. The support you've given her has been invaluable. We are obviously happy for her and proud of her achievements, but I must say that having someone besides her parents to keep her on track and advise her has been the best part of it. It definitely preserved our relationship with her during those precious last years having her at home. We'll definitely be in touch very soon as her brother will be a Sophomore in the Fall, and we'd like to start the process then as we did for our daughter.

With Lisa’s talent, skill set and dedication coupled with Debbie’s brilliance at editing and devotion to her clients, my daughter put forth her best application. The more I think about it, the more I want to be there.  I actually wasn't expecting to hear anything from them until March 12th, so I was totally taken by surprise when I got the email today (I admit to already setting up room surf, and painting my nails blue and yellow).  But I am still waiting to hear from Michigan, Northwestern, Penn, and WashU.  I am planning on spending a night at Delaware with one of my friend's friends.  Also, depending on Michigan and Northwestern, I am planning to visit and stay the night also. But I just wanted to let you know about this BIG NEWS!!!! I'll update you as any other decisions come in.  I am not sure if you know all the schools I've been accepted to, but the list (as of today) is: University of Delaware, Miami University in Ohio, Indiana, Tulane, University of Denver, SMU, and Ohio State. It feels awesome to be wanted!! Thanks for all your help and support!!

However I am spending next year in Israel to learn Hebrew and do volunteering so that I will go there on Fall 2014. Thank you so much for everything you did!!! I hope that we will keep in touch and that we will see each other again someday.

  • I wanted to let you know that I was invited to join the honors program here at Tulane. That seems to just be the icing on the cake of my experience here. I cannot describe to you how in love I am with this school. The people, the atmosphere, the faculty, the campus, the nightlife, EVERYTHING! I just wanted to thank you again for all of your help during my college application process and decisions; you helped me find my perfect match!

  • I was just sitting here waiting for my next class to start thinking about how much I love it here at UD and I realized that I have you to thank for giving me one of the best years of my life! I am so thankful for all of your help last year during the rough college application process. You were always there for me, helping me out and dealing with me. I will always remember that one day that you told me that you woke up in the middle of the night thinking about an idea you had for a college essay for me. I thought that it was so amazing that you were so dedicated to helping me get what I really wanted and I appreciate that so much. In the beginning school was very scary, I definitely was not expecting that. First semester was a little rough because of trying to find friends and dealing with some homesickness but after a long UD 2 month break I switched dorm rooms and now I am having the best time at school. I am so upset that I have to leave in a month and thinking about it makes me want to cry a little. I joined a sorority (Gamma Phi Beta) and I am loving every minute of it! The girls are so amazing and I have found amazing friends through it. During the fall semester I played on a soccer intramural team and I have joined another one this semester, I even joined a volleyball team which should be interesting because I cannot play volleyball to save my life. Also, I remember how nervous I was about declaring a Fashion Merchandising major last year but I am obsessed with it now. UD has such a great program and when I leave class I fall in love with it all over again. My dream is to do an internship abroad in Hong Kong when I am a junior which is offered here at UD. Thank you again for all of your help, I owe it all to you! If you are advising anyone that is going to UD next year or thinking about it you can have them contact me. I would LOVE to talk to them about how amazing it is here and give them any advice they need!

Your support and advice were so integral during the past three years, and I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to meet you. Truly you have changed my life and my future. Without you, I know that I would never be in this position. Never in my wildest dreams did I think that I would be accepted to and eventually go to Harvard. Yet, you believed in me, and for that I am so thankful.

  • I just wanted to thank you so much for everything so far. As parents, we always write to you to ask about our children's college app process and never seem to find the time to show how much we appreciate all of your hard work. So, today, for a change, I'll do just that and not ask you anything 🙂 I can't express the transformation Tuvana has gone throughout the college app process. When she met you as a sophomore, she was a girl who was doing everything because her mom was pushing her. Today, I see a mature young woman who's taking charge for her own future. I'm tracking her progress with her essays, and apparently, she's working on them. She's finished with her college tours and during the tours, she asked questions to the staff and ambassadors. This is all because of you and the way you led her to be her best self. She now believes in herself and has high expectations from her future. Thanks to you, I'm not the nervous wreck mom that you met 2 years ago. I'm rest assured that my daughter is in good hands... I don't know how we would have survived this daunting process without you... Thanks a million for all of this... I just wanted to let you know how appreciative we all are of your hard work for the success of our children.

I AM VERY HAPPY. Great work with a very, very tough student. Thank you, Abby.

We could not imagine how requiring and hectic this time would be, both for her and for the rest of the family. You succeeded to make the process much more serene and very successful. He is SO happy and relieved and we are so proud of him.  He has worked so hard for so many years, always dreaming of going to a really great school.  Now it is a reality.  He had the brains, the drive, and the great interests to pursue, but your help the past two years, most significantly with his personal statement and essays, made the difference.  We cannot thank you enough. By the way, we I read the rest of his essays yesterday and have to say that our favorites were Penn, Princeton and William and Mary. They were exceptional.

  • Abby provided an amazing service not only for our son, but also for us as parents navigating through this process for the first time. She was as patient with us as she was helpful to our son. We have two more children to get into college, and we’re hoping Abby will be there for them as well.

  • Abby helped work with me in an individualized way and got to know me as a person, not just another applicant. She was extremely helpful and worked collaboratively with me, guiding me to the ideal school. I would recommend anyone applying to college to Abby, as she is kind, helpful and dedicated. (NYU student) My son’s situation was “out of the box” so we needed to work with people who not only understood that, but also had the expertise and experience to navigate us through the complexities and challenges of the college application process. Abby’s approach was the perfect balance of holding my son accountable for his role in the process, while ensuring that he felt supported throughout. We believe that approach made all the difference in terms of successfully targeting the schools that were right for him, while preparing him for the responsibilities of college life.

Please, receive our appreciation for the fantastic support that Ester received from you! She is so happy to be accepted at Barnard and so we are too. Beside the help to write her essays, we could see how your spontaneous support and enthusiasm was a very good help when she lacked confidence in herself. Sometimes you need others to believe more in you than yourself. Thank you so much for this as well!

  • Another THANK YOU for helping me with the essays for law schools! I literally could not have done this without your help structuring my thoughts and pulling out the intriguing story. I remember how overwhelmed I was during our first call! I have been accepted by the 5 schools that I have heard back from so far: GW, BU, Vanderbilt, UCLA, and Michigan! I am super excited and keep psyching myself out to make a decision...before remembering that I don't have all the information yet from which to choose. So now I am reading each welcome packet, weighing the scholarship offers, and planning my school visits. Anyways, I wanted to check in to update you and say THANK YOU so much. • Colleen was the best! She was so helpful working with both my children with their personal essays as well as several school specific essays. I have a son and a daughter who have very different writing styles and Colleen was able to pull out the best from each of them. She was very patient and provided a lot of feedback to them during the editing process. Colleen tirelessly read through revision after revision until she was satisfied with the final version. Both my children were accepted to their schools of choice. We are so happy for them and grateful to Colleen for helping them achieve their goal.

Without your guidance I do not believe I would have been as successful in college admissions. The zoom conference calls and direct interaction between Lisa and our daughter has resulted in the happiest 18 year old who found her "true" calling and will be studying Fashion/Design in NYC in Fall of 2020. I've worked directly with Lisa and I have always felt that I can speak to her honestly about my opinions. She has kept me on schedule to make sure that I am prepared to send my applications in this fall. Without Lisa I would not be prepared to apply. Lisa introduced me to Candace who I have been working with who has helped me iron out my essays. Both Lisa and Candace and everyone at CBM are amazing.

  • We had an initial consultation with Abby Power. From the start, it was clear how much expertise, energy, smarts and passion she was bringing to the meeting. Our daughter really responded to her as Abby brought a comfort and confidence to the process. Not only did she share her knowledge, but she really listened and dug deep into our daughter's interests and talents. Thank you so much, Abby. Incredibly grateful.

  • Extremely Insightful and Helpful with NYU Transfer Application I worked directly with Lisa Bleich and her assistance was outstanding. She gave me direction and insight that transformed my essays and completely improved my application. Without her guidance, I would not have been accepted into NYU. Even after I got accepted, Lisa still extended advice and a helping hand. Her advice is worth all the money. I highly recommend working with Lisa and her team!

I graduated college a little over a year ago, and was reflecting on all the circumstances that led me to where I am now post-grad, and wanted to thank you for all your help with my college applications and helping me get admission to UChicago. Looking back on all the opportunities I've received and friends I've made at school - none of it would have been possible without your support, so I wanted to thank you for all your help getting me to where I am today!

  • I LOVE Stefanie! I must say, I was very hesitant with starting with a college essay mentor as I thought they were cold, cunning people that would write my essays for me. That was not the case! Stefanie is warm, kind, understanding, and supportive! She listened to my goals and expectations in our first meeting, and laid out a clear and organized plan. She respected my boundaries of not directly editing my essay without my full permission, and always made sure my voiced shined through all my work.

  • My younger son just finished his initial consultation with Abby. She worked with his brother starting his freshman year as well, all the way through his final college selection. There was so much stress removed from our parent/child relationship as she was the one guiding him in high school class selection, encouraging him to challenge himself with AP classes, setting realistic expectations for admissions and the need for extracurriculars and volunteer work, helping him find colleges that matched his personality and academic interest, working with him on his essays, and managing the application requirements and deadlines. I felt like I could step back and just be his emotional support and cheerleader throughout the stressful process. Abby is bright, funny, knows her stuff, and best of all connects well with her students. My son developed a sincere fondness for her and our entire family benefitted from her involvement and expertise. Thanks Abby!

  • Thank you (twice now!) We did well! Your combination of advisor, editor, counselor and therapist made a massive difference for our daughter. She was on the fence about “needing” a counselor last summer. A few weeks ago she apologized to me for pushing back and said thank you for connecting me to Abby. That’s as good a testimonial as you can get from a 17 year old.

  • My wife and I are still amazed how you spoke with her for an hour and said you thought a good “fit” school for her would be Duke, then went we visited 14 schools and researched them, she did like Duke the most (then Vandy, then Georgetown), and then it ended up being the best school she was accepted at.  You nailed it.    We also credit you with providing our daughter with achievements at the state level and greatly reducing conflict in our family due to your suggestion to get her back into music class at her school.   You get all the credit for it because that change absolutely wouldn’t have happened without your intervention and suggestion.  Sometimes some small tweaks can yield big effects. THANKS!

  • Initially, I underestimated the magnitude of work of my graduate school applications and was, therefore, skeptical about hiring a counselor. However, I am beyond grateful that my family urged me to get in touch with Alex and give this a shot. Right after our first call, I realized that Alex had to be a part of my journey. He is smart, detail-oriented, and easy to work with–three qualities that make him stand out. One of the best things about Alex is how supremely insightful he is. In spite of being a copywriter, there were moments when I struggled with my essays and their word limits. Alex managed to understand my story better than anyone else, which was reflected coherently in my applications. He encouraged me to be honest, own up to my shortcomings, and not sugarcoat the truth, which is probably what helped me get into every school of my choice despite my low GPA. Given how tight my deadlines were, I also needed someone who had a quick turnaround time. Alex was super prompt and got back to me sooner than promised. Alex’s biggest USP is that he knows exactly what is needed and can play any card that he is dealt. Needless to say, I recommend him without any reservation.
